This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-638, 956-639, 956-649, and 956-654 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The machine bolt P/N MS9556-04 is affected by this Service Bulletin.

This Service Bulletin introduces a new machine bolt P/N J643P02A.

E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part.
(2)Condition:
The Boeing final assembly line reported a gap at the joint between the cushioned loop clamp P/N J1432P08 (SIN 53280) and the Boeing hydraulic pump P/N 53065-05G01 (SIN C00A6) during the installation of the hydraulic case drain hose tube P/N ER5350G01 (SIN 53200).
(3)Cause:
The old machine bolt that is used to assemble the hydraulic case drain hose tube (SIN 53200) to the Boeing hydraulic pump (SIN C00A6) is 0.051 inch (1.30 mm) longer than the Boeing hydraulic pump (SIN C00A6) threaded hole, which results in a gap at the joint between the cushioned loop clamp (SIN 53280) and the Boeing hydraulic pump (SIN C00A6).
(4)Improvement:
The new machine bolt is 0.063 inch (1.60 mm) shorter than the old machine bolt. This new machine bolt eliminates the gap at the joint location between the cushioned loop clamp (SIN 53280) and the Boeing hydraulic pump (SIN C00A6).

Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.
