This Service Bulletin releases the new carbon seal lube nozzle P/N 2373M95G01 and the new No. 1 bearing oil nozzle P/N 2381M17G01. |

(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts. |
(2) | Condition: |
The old carbon seal lube nozzle P/N 2324M23G01 and the old No. 1 bearing oil nozzle P/N 2301M47G01 are machined from barstock. |
(3) | Cause: |
New parts have improved manufacturing process capability, old parts were machined from barstock, new parts are a machined casting design. Additionally, the new design improves a screw thread breakout issue that was experienced during development testing. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new carbon seal lube nozzle P/N 2373M95G01 and the new No. 1 bearing oil nozzle P/N 2381M17G01 are a machined casting design. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis. |

The No. 1 bearing oil nozzle design change, incorporates a new two bolt flange design to replace the old two stud configuration in which the studs were integral with the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle. The No. 1 bearing oil nozzle design change is interchangeable as a set because the new nozzle design requires the addition of the two new machine bolts P/N AS3580-5-30. |

3. | ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS |
A. | Removal of the Carbon Seal Lube Nozzle and the No. 1 Bearing Oil Nozzle |
(1) | Removal instructions for the carbon seal lube nozzle (1, Figure 1) and the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle (2) have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-23-00, DISASSEMBLY 001. |
B. | Installation of the New Carbon Seal Lube Nozzle and the New No. 1 Bearing Oil Nozzle |
(1) | Install the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle (4, Figure 1) and the carbon seal lube nozzle (3) as follows: |
WARNING: |

(a) | Apply engine oil (C02-019) or engine oil (C02-023) to the packings, the self-locking nuts, and the lead-in chamfers of the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle (4). |
(b) | Install the packings in the groove on the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle (4) and in the groove on the carbon seal lube nozzle (3). |
(c) | Install the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle (4) in the aft side of the forward flange of the No. 1 bearing housing. |
(d) | Install the machine bolts (5) in the No. 1 bearing oil nozzle (4) and through the forward flange of the No. 1 bearing housing. |
(e) | Install the carbon seal lube nozzle (3) in the forward side of the forward flange of the No. 1 bearing housing. |
(f) | Install the self-locking nuts on the machine bolts (5). |
(g) | Torque the self-locking nuts to 235-275 lb in. (26.6-31.1 Nm). Hold the machine bolts (5) while the self-locking nuts are torqued. |
