This Service Bulletin releases a new design for the stage 1 blisk P/N 2448M41P01 into the GEnx-1B engine. |

(1) | Objective: |
To introduce a new part. |
(2) | Condition: |
The original stage 1 blisk airfoil design has a reduced level of vibratory stress margin. |
(3) | Cause: |
The reduced level of vibratory stress margin is due to a high stress in the stage 1 blisk airfoil root fillet. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new stage 1 blisk design incorporates a material change and airfoil design change. This new stage 1 blisk design reduces the stress at the airfoil fillet. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
