This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:

GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-150 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The stage 5 blisk P/N 2357M35P01 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases a new stage 5 blisk P/N 2357M35P02 for the GEnx-1B engines.
C.Compliance
Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's option.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
 
LIFE LIMIT
 
The life limit for the new stage 5 blisk P/N 2357M35P02 has been added to the GEnx-1B Engine Manual (EM), Section 05-11-02 by Temporary Revision (TR) 05-0005. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM for life limit of this part.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part.
(2)Condition:
The current stage 5 blisk contains features that add complexity to the manufacturing process which are no longer needed for the stage 5 blisk design.
(3)Cause:
The current part design contains features that had not been evaluated for possible part design simplification.
(4)Improvement:
The new design eliminates the forward damper tab and changes the bolt hole shape from oval to round, this will improve the manufacturing process.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.

This Service Bulletin contains no modification information that revises the approved configuration and therefore does not require FAA approval.
G.Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
Weight and balance are not changed.
