D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce a new part and improve maintainability. |
(2) | Condition: |
The old wire seal made from inconel 718 may cause wear in the wire seal grooves of the stages 6-10 compressor rotor spool (stages 6-10 spool). |
(3) | Cause: |
Relative motion of the similar materials of the old wire seal and the stages 6-10 spool material, provides the potential for an increased wear rate between the wire seal and the wire seal grooves. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new wire seal made from L605 provides a dissimilar material. This material has shown in lab testing to provide a reduced wear rate between the new wire seal and the wire seal grooves. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and test. |
F. | Approval |
This Service Bulletin contains no modification information that revises the approved configuration and therefore does not require FAA approval. |
G. | Manpower |
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin. |
H. | Weight and Balance |
Weight and balance are not changed. |
