These serial numbers are the best available data.
The old outer seal P/N 2105M12P02, support bracket P/N 2351M42G01, and nut P/N AS3486-10 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases the new outer seal P/N 2459M14P01 and support bracket P/N 2459M76G01.
C.Compliance
Category 9
Information only.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished on wing or in shop.
New hardware was installed on all production engines and GE lease pool engines, before to entry into service.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts and improve reliability.
(2)Condition:
The oil vent tube connections have shown oil staining during flight testing.
(3)Cause:
Insufficient compression of the outer seal and bending of the support bracket were identified as the root cause.
(4)Improvement:
The new outer seal provides an improved compression. The new support bracket has an increased thickness to eliminate bending. Additionally, the support bracket has riveted nutplates, that replace the loose nuts, for ease installation of the support bracket.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.
F.Approval
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
