This Service Bulletin is applicable to these GEnx-1B engines:

GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-110, 956-112 thru 956-127, and 956-140 thru 956-146.
This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-111, 956-128 thru 956-139, 956-147 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The old bracket P/N 2426M89G01 and shield bracket P/N 2444M86G01 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases the new electrical support bracket (bracket) P/N 2471M65G01 and the shield bracket P/N 2471M66G01 to provide the clearance required by interface agreement.

This Service Bulletin can be accomplished on wing or in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts and rework old parts.
(2)Condition:
The current brackets do not meet the customer clearance requirement.
(3)Cause:
Introduction of a new fan cowl with reduced clearance in the area where the current brackets are located.
(4)Improvement:
The proposed brackets comply with the customer clearance requirements, increasing the space between the brackets and the new fan cowl without affecting their structural integrity.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.

The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 0.09 lb (0.04 kg).

3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.Removal and Installation
(1)Removal and installation instructions for shield bracket P/N 2471M66G01 and P/N 2472M63G01 have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-21-00, DISASSEMBLY 001 and ASSEMBLY 001.
(2)Removal and installation instructions for bracket P/N 2471M65G01 and P/N 2472M62G01 have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-00-01, DISASSEMBLY 001 and ASSEMBLY 001.
B.Rework of current brackets P/N 2426M89G01 and P/N 2444M86G01.
(1)Rework the bracket (1, Figure 1) as follows:
(a)Remove the bracket material. Refer to Figure 1.
(b)Re-identify reworked bracket (1) by lining through old P/N 2426M89G01 and remark with new P/N 2472M62G01. Refer to SPM, 70-16-03, ELECTROCHEMICAL ETCH MARKING or SPM, 70-16-08, DOT PEEN MARKING FOR OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION, Method 2.
(2)Rework the bracket (2, Figure 2) as follows:
(a)Remove the bracket material. Refer to Figure 2.
(b)Re-identify reworked bracket (2) by lining through old P/N 2444M89G01 and remark with new P/N 2472M63G01. Refer to SPM, 70-16-03, ELECTROCHEMICAL ETCH MARKING or SPM, 70-16-08, DOT PEEN MARKING FOR OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION, Method 2.
