The engine monitoring unit (EMU) support brackets P/N 2377M34G01, P/N 2318M70G01, P/N 2377M35G01, P/N 2351M54G01, and P/N 2377M38G01 are affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin introduces new EMU support brackets P/N 2447M81P01, P/N 2447M76P01, P/N 2438M06G01, P/N 2447M77G01, P/N 2438M38G01, and P/N 2447M78G01. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 9 |
Information only. |
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts and improve maintainability. |
(2) | Condition: |
The current EMU support brackets can be used only with the EMU P/N 2122M32P06. |
(3) | Cause: |
Fan blade out analysis showed that the 4 bolts holding the EMU P/N 2122M32P06 feet to the extruded chasis were not strong enough to withstand the EMU load. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new EMU support brackets configuration allows the installation of the one piece cast chasis for the EMU P/N 2122M32P08. All the interfaces and stack ups are not affected and there is also a weight reduction in the engine. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |
F. | Approval |
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |

K. | Interchangeability |
The old EMU support brackets are not interchangeable with the new EMU support brackets. The new EMU support brackets can be used with the EMUs P/N 2122M32P06 and P/N 2122M32P08. Previously produced engines will have to be retrofitted to match the introduction of the EMU P/N 2122M32P08. |
