This Service Bulletin is applicable to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-110 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The gasket P/N 2370M96P01 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases an improved seal gasket P/N 2492M86P01 configuration to production introduction and spare parts availability.
C.Compliance
Category 9
Information only.
The upgrade of the drain mast gasket is considered as qualified interchangeable. the engines already had the new seal gasket installed.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished on wing or in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part and improve maintainability.
(2)Condition:
The current gasket utilizes a fluorocarbon elastomer and is susceptible to be affected by Skydrol fluid.
(3)Cause:
When the current gasket is exposed to Skydrol fluid it will begin to breakdown and eventually prevent the ability of the gasket to perform its function.
(4)Improvement:
The proposed seal gasket O-ring seal material will be changed to perfluoroelastomer which has excellent resistance to Skydrol.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by comparative analysis.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
