This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:

GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-125 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The interstage seal P/N 2352M63P01 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases a new interstage seal P/N 2352M63P02.

GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience or option.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements

LIFE LIMIT
 
The life limits for the new interstage seal P/N 2352M63P02 have been added to the GEnx-1B Engine Manual (EM), Section 05-11-03. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM for cycle time limits of this part.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part and reduce cost of ownership.
(2)Condition:
A similar interstage seal on another engine line has exhibited corrosion pitting on the outer rim surfaces in field service, resulting in the interstage seals being scrapped at engine overhaul and increasing cost of ownership.
(3)Cause:
The interstage seal material is susceptible to corrosion pitting in field operation environments.
(4)Improvement:
The new interstage seal P/N 2352M63P02 incorporates a corrosion resistant coating on the outer rim surfaces of the interstage seal. This change was made to reduce the predicted level of scrap at overhaul due to corrosion pitting and also to reduce the cost of ownership.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by comparative analysis and test.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
