This Service Bulletin is applicable to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-110, 956-114 through 956-123, 956-126, 956-127, and 956-142 through 956-146.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
This Service Bulletin was accomplished at Boeing prior to aircraft delivery.
The EBU FD Kit GR P/N 738L103G01 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This service bulletin removes hardware not required in service for the fire extinguishing system. Removing this hardware and installing the cap and spacer changes the EBU FD Kit GR P/N 738L103G01 to P/N 738L103G02 configuration. Serial numbers not listed have a P/N 738L103G03 configuration kit installed and are not affected.

D.Concurrent Requirements

E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part and remove parts from service.
(2)Condition:
Fire extinguishing testing on the engine and nacelle proved the tubes P/N ER5497G01 and P/N ER5348G01 are not needed.
(3)Cause:
It is necessary to change the configuration to meet the results of nacelle fire extinguishing testing.
(4)Improvement:
Reduced complexity of system.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by test.

This Service Bulletin contains no modification information that revises the approved configuration and therefore does not require FAA approval.
G.Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 2.1 lb (0.95 kg).
