B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin provides a new combustor case P/N 2303M23G19 and associated hardware to the engine illustrated parts catalog (EIPC). |
This combustion case is the same as the production P/N 2303M23G11 except for the addition of an access pad to permit installation of an instrumentation rake for flight test use. For production use the instrumentation pad is covered with a blank-off plate. |

New combustor case P/N 2303M23G19 has been installed on 956-104, 956-105, 956-106, 956-140, and 956-141 engines. This case has a plane 3.1 rake pad and additional hardware required to seal the pad. The currently released combustor case P/N 2417M03G01 also has a plane 3.1 rake pad that uses the identical parts. |

This combustor case supports GEnx-1B PIP1 engine testing program. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new combustor case allows to install the rake and acquire the plane 3.1 engine data. |

The case P/N 2303M23G19 is the same as P/N 2303M23G11 except for the addition of a plane 3.1 rake pad. The G19 can be used in any engine that allows the G11 if the blank-off plate, gasket, and assembly bolts are included as a set to seal the rake pad on the G19. The engine serial numbers 956-104, 956-105, 956-106, 956-140, and 956-141 are production engines with shipped G19 cases installed. The G11 can be installed in the five engines already mentioned. The G19 can be installed in engines qualified with the G11 case with no restrictions. |

(1) | Assembly instructions for the combustor case have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B, 72-41-00, ASSEMBLY 001. |
(2) | Install the cover plug (1, Figure 1) as follows: |
(a) | Install the cover plug (1) and the rake gasket (3) on the combustor case (01-080, 72-41-00) with four bolts (2). |
(b) | Torque the bolts (2) in a criss cross pattern to 106-124 lb in. (12.0-14.0 Nm). |
