This Service Bulletin is applicable to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-124, 956-125, and 956-140 through 956-157.
This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-158 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
All engines will be retrofitted at Boeing prior to entry into service.
The bolt spacer P/N 2327M97P02 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases the new cooling air deflectors (brackets) P/N 2495M09P01, P/N 2498M06G01, and P/N 2498M05P01 on the compressor mid flange.

This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts and improve cooling of the high pressure compressor (HPC) case.
(2)Condition:
The air flow path from the core compartment cooling (CCC) manifold is directed into the core compartment by the current hardware.
(3)Cause:
The current active clearance control (ACC) valve and fuel tube support brackets block the free flow of air from the CCC manifold into the core compartment, directing it toward the HPC case.
(4)Improvement:
The new brackets shield the HPC case from the CCC air.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.

No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin increases weight by 0.67 lb (0.30 kg).
