This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-256 and up.
The old eductor nozzle P/N 2301M76G01 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin introduces a redesigned eductor nozzle P/N 2301M76G03 with an additional feature on the flange.
C.Compliance
Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience/option.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part.
(2)Condition:
The current eductor nozzle uses a bolt pattern offset to get an error proof assembly. But because of component tolerances, the bolt pattern offset can be inadequate and the component can potentially be installed backward. This could affect the B-sump seal at engine ground idle speeds.
(3)Cause:
Component tolerances are inadequate to make sure that the component cannot be installed backward.
(4)Improvement:
The new eductor nozzle has a feature on the side of the nozzle flange which prevents incorrect installation.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by comparative analysis.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.

A.General
(1)Removal and installation instructions for the eductor nozzle (1, Figure 1) have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-00-04, REMOVAL 001 and INSTALLATION 001.
