B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin releases new inner liners P/N 2541M22G01, P/N 2541M22G02, and P/N 2541M22G03 and new outer liners P/N 2541M17G01, P/N 2541M17G02, P/N 2541M17G04, P/N 2541M17G05, and P/N 2541M17G06 to the Engine Illustrated Parts Catalog (EIPC) to be used in fielded combustion chamber assemblies P/Ns 2258M80G01/G06/G08/G09/G10/G13 and P/N 2745M50G01. |
Also, this Service Bulletin provides a reference to Repair Document (RD) 124-1201 to rework the old outer liners P/N 2257M50G01, P/N 2255M81G08, and P/N 2255M81G10 to the new P/N 2541M17G02, P/N 2541M17G04, and P/N 2541M17G05 configurations respectively, to be used in fielded combustion chamber assemblies P/Ns 2258M80G08/G09/G10/G13. The RD 124-1201 also allows rework of the old outer liner P/N 2753M63G01 to the new P/N 2541M17G06 configuration, to be used in the fielded combustion chamber assembly P/N 2745M50G01. |
In addition, this Service Bulletin provides a reference to RD 124-1199 to rework the old inner liners P/N 2255M82G06 and P/N 2255M82G09 to the new P/N 2541M22G01 and P/N 2541M22G02 configurations respectively, to be used in fielded combustion chamber assemblies P/Ns 2258M80G06/G08/G09/G10/G13. RD 124-1199 also allows rework of the old inner liner P/N 2753M64G01 to the new P/N 2541M22G03 configuration, to be used in the fielded combustion chamber assembly P/N 2745M50G01. |
These new inner and outer liner part numbers released herein allow the rework of the inner and outer liner aft seal legs to apply the T800 coating to build up recover parts that have been returned from service with wear on the aft seal leg surface. |

NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To rework parts (to apply T800 coating to restore the aft seal leg to the original dimensional height). |
(2) | Condition: |
The potential for wear of the inner liner P/N 2255M82G06, P/N 2255M82G09, or P/N 2753M64G01 and outer liner P/N 2255M81G05, P/N 2255M81G06, P/N 2255M81G08, P/N 2255M81G10, or P/N 2753M63G01 aft seal leg supports has led to repair programs to restore field returned parts to new drawing limits. The repairs offered by RD 124-1201 (for inner liners) and RD 124-1199 (for outer liners) apply a T800 coating to restore the aft seal leg support dimensions, which is a different material from the production definition and requires a separate part number for reuse. |
(3) | Cause: |
The wear of the aft seal leg is the result of normal contact loading with the stage 1 HPT nozzle leaf seals. If this condition is not repaired and restored to the original dimensions, a leakage at the interface can occur, resulting in a detrimental effect on engine performance. Recovery of the aft seal leg support height is required at shop visits to restore the interface and reduce leakage levels. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The rework procedures of the applicable RD 124-1201 and RD 124-1199 allow recovery of the inner liners P/N 2255M82G06, P/N 2255M82G09, and P/N 2753M64G01 and outer liners P/N 2255M81G05, P/N 2255M81G06, P/N 2255M81G08, P/N 2255M81G10, and P/N 2753M63G01 with excessive wear as a result of normal operation. The application of coating restores the part to new drawing dimensional limits. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by comparative analysis. |
