|
The high pressure turbine (HPT) rotor sump seal (seal) P/N 2305M99P01 is affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin introduces a new damper sleeve (damper) P/N 2546M45P01 and a redesigned seal P/N 2305M99P02 to replace the current seal P/N 2305M99P01. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts and improve durability. |
(2) | Condition: |
Analysis of the current seal shows the potential for a heavy seal rub to occur. |
(3) | Cause: |
An adverse assembly condition can lead to a thermal instability in the seal with the potential for a heavy seal rub to occur. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new seal design incorporates a damper and has an improved thermal stability. This accommodates any adverse assembly condition and makes the seal robust to rotor/stator rub interactions. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis. |
F. | Approval |
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
