The support bracket P/N 2372M55G01, oil supply bracket P/N 2372M58G01, machine bolt P/N AS3237-08, and machine bolt P/N MS9556-06 are affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin introduces a new support bracket P/N 2497M23G01 and machine bolt P/N MS9556-08 to eliminate any contact between the high pressure turbine cooling (HPTC) air manifold P/N 2542M06G01 and the current support bracket. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience/option. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce a new part, improve reliability, and improve maintainability. |
(2) | Condition: |
Potential interference between the support bracket and HPTC air manifold. When this manifold is tightened, the edge of a tee section in the manifold can contact the support bracket. |
(3) | Cause: |
When the tab on the support bracket was bent to accommodate the oil supply bracket, it should have been angled away from the HPTC air manifold to allow for the larger diameter of the tee. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The proposed design eliminates any contact between the HPTC air manifold and support bracket, eliminating the oil supply bracket and forming a single bracket. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by comparative analysis. |
F. | Approval |
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
G. | Manpower |
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin. |
H. | Weight and Balance |
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 0.47 lb (0.21 kg). |

WARNING: |
|
(a) | Apply C02-058 lubricant to the threads and bearing (friction) surfaces of the machine bolts (01-010 or 01A-010, 72-54-00) and (01-020 or 01A-020) as follows: |
1 | Use a minimum quantity of C02-058 lubricant necessary for assembly. |
2 | After assembly, remove the remaining lubricant with a C10-182 cleaning cloth. |
(b) | Install a metal gasket (01-070 or 01A-070) on the outer pad of the TCF (35-015, 72-00-02) at strut No. 6. Make sure that the metal gasket (01-070 or 01A-070, 72-54-00) is new and that the lifted surface is outboard. |
