This Service Bulletin is applicable to all GEnx-1B engines.
This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-102 thru 956-106 and 956-108 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The upper firewall P/N 2360M42G03 and lower firewall P/N 2311M29G03 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin provides instructions to rework the current upper and lower firewalls into the new upper firewall P/N 2360M42G04 and new lower firewall P/N 2311M29G04.

D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To rework parts.
(2)Condition:
Doublers installed on the current upper and lower firewalls cause abrupt transitions between the surface of the firewall and the surface of the doubler at the doubler edges.
(3)Cause:
Boeing requested GE to add doublers to the upper and lower firewalls to stiffen them.
(4)Improvement:
The specified RTV provides smooth interface transition for the seals which reduces air leakage.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by comparative analysis.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.

3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.Rework
(1)Rework the upper firewall (1, Figure 1) as follows:
WARNING:
REFER TO THE PRODUCT LABEL AND THE MANUFACTURERS (MATERIAL) SAFETY DATA SHEET (SDS) FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON THE HAZARDS, STORAGE, SAFE HANDLING AND PROPER USE OF THIS PRODUCT.
(a)Clean areas C and D of the upper firewall (1) with C04-035 isopropyl alcohol or equivalent. Refer to the SPM, 70-21-23, CLEANING METHOD NO. 23 - HAND-WIPE DEGREASING.
(b)Apply C01-159 primer to areas C and D.

REFER TO THE PRODUCT LABEL AND THE MANUFACTURERS (MATERIAL) SAFETY DATA SHEET (SDS) FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON THE HAZARDS, STORAGE, SAFE HANDLING AND PROPER USE OF THIS PRODUCT.
(c)Fill areas C and D with C01-007 RTV 106 to get a smooth transition.
(d)Do paragraph 3.A.(1)(a) thru paragraph 3.A.(1)(c) again on the other side of the upper firewall (1).
(2)Rework the lower firewall (2, Figure 1) as follows:
