|
These serial numbers are the best available data. |
The stage 6 low pressure turbine (LPT) blade (stage 6 blade) P/N 2430M46P02 and stage 7 LPT blade (stage 7 blade) P/N 2430M47P02 are affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin introduces new stage 6 blade P/N 2430M46P03 and stage 7 blade P/N 2430M47P03 with shank pocket redesign and provides replacement instructions. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience or option. |
Impact E |
This recommendation is to improve the cost of ownership, reduce maintenance requirements or is a product improvement. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts, improve maintainability, and increase the production of parts. |
(2) | Condition: |
The old part configuration requires long machining operation to obtain the shank pocket below the platform blades. This is negatively impacting manufacturing lead time and part production process. |
(3) | Cause: |
The shank pocket design in old parts is beneficial for the weight of the stage 6 and stage 7 blades but requires consistent machining time and tooling usage, with significant impact on the production of the parts. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new design for a shallower shank pocket will result in more producible stage 6 stage 7 blades, with shorter machining lead time and less tooling usage. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |
F. | Approval |
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
G. | Manpower |
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin. |
H. | Weight and Balance |
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin increases weight by 6.577 lb (2.983 kg). |
The stage 6 blade weight increase will be by 3.048 lb (1.383 kg). The stage 7 blade weight increase will be by 3.529 lb (1.600 kg). |
