The parts listed in Table 1 below are affected by this Service Bulletin: |
|
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin introduces a new CDN assembly P/N 2376M45G10 with a new stage 1 nozzle assembly P/N 2305M55G08 by releasing a new stage 1 nozzle P/N 2764M24G03, stage 1 nozzle (borescope) P/N 2764M24G04, new or reworked HPT support nozzle P/N 2407M46G08, and a new bolt cover P/N 2756M11P02. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience. |
Impact E |
This recommendation is to improve the cost of ownership, reduce maintenance requirements or is a product improvement. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new and reworked parts to improve reliability. |
(2) | Condition: |
The current configuration of the HPT support nozzle has experienced microcracks on the outside diameter (OD) of the aft flange and the current stage 1 nozzle segments have experienced airfoil distress on the convex surface from burning/oxidation. |
(3) | Cause: |
The current HPT support nozzle condition is caused by hot gas ingestion around the OD of the aft flange. The stage 1 nozzle condition is caused by higher operating temperatures and stresses than originally predicted. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new bolt cover has a forward arm extension to better protect the HPT support nozzle aft flange OD, extended tabs, and ship-lap feature to provide a 360-degree protection to the HPT support nozzle. In addition, to make room for the arm extension, the aft flange OD was reduced and a wider chamfer was added to the HPT support nozzle. |
The stage 1 nozzle aft inner band has also been modified to interface with the new or reworked HPT support nozzle and a new bolt cover during assembly. |
The stage 1 nozzle cooling holes and pattern are also improved to reduce part temperature. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis, comparative analysis, and test. |
F. | Approval |
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
G. | Manpower |
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin. |
H. | Weight and Balance |
Weight and balance are not changed. |
