| (1) | Objective: |
| To introduce new parts and improve reliability. |
| (2) | Condition: |
| The current C-clips have been prone to cracking in the fillet area. |
| (3) | Cause: |
| Finite element analysis has shown localized high stress areas in the fillet region of the current C-clips, which is consistent with the crack locations observed on the fielded parts. |
| (4) | Improvement: |
| The C-clips geometry is modified by the fillet radius size change and increase in the inner and outer shoulder thickness. This resulted in reduced stress during assembly procedure, reduced stress range during operation, and more uniform stress distribution along the C-clip fillets. Therefore, the new design will improve C-clip reliability. |
