This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-124, 956-125, 956-128 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The old engine monitoring unit (EMU) P/N 2122M32P07 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases the new EMU P/N 2122M32P08.
C.Compliance
Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part and improve reliability.
(2)Condition:
All production and test engines affected, will be retrofitted with the new EMU before entry into service via flight test service instructions (FTSI) and field engineering instruction (FEI).
(3)Cause:
Improvement of design capability.
(4)Improvement:
The new EMU incorporates improvements to the aircraft communication.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and test.

This Service Bulletin contains no modification information that revises the approved configuration and therefore does not require FAA approval.
G.Manpower
After you get access to the EMU, you will need approximately 1.5 man-hour for each engine or component.
H.Weight and Balance
Weight and balance are not changed.
