This Service Bulletin is applicable to all GEnx-1B engines. |
The electronic engine control (EEC) VIN 114E9586G8 (P/N 2121M82P06) is affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin releases a new EEC VIN 114E9586G10 (P/N 2447M85P01) and a new 1B EEC kit P/N 738L357G05. |

E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts. |
(2) | Condition: |
Old EEC configuration is not prepared to support GEnx engines with thrust above 75,000 pounds. |
(3) | Cause: |
PS3 transducer has a 750 psi (5171 kPa) design limit. Conditions expected on GEnx models with thrust above 75,000 pounds will exceed this pressure limit. |
(4) | Improvement: |
New EEC has a PS3 transducer capable of 850 psi (5861 kPa) required for pressure seen when engine operates above 75,000 pounds of thrust. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by test. |

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |

The new EEC VIN 114E9586G10 (P/N 2447M85P01) is fully interchangeable with the old EEC VIN 114E9586G8 (P/N 2121M82P06) on GEnx-1B54, -1B58, -1B64, -1B67 and -1B70. Parts added. |
The 1B EEC kit P/N 738L357G04 may be used on all GEnx-1B engines at 75,000 pounds of thrust and below. Otherwise, the old 1B EEC kit P/N 738L357G04 can be reworked to the new 1B EEC kit P/N 738L357G05 by returning the old EEC VIN 114E9586G8 (P/N 2121M82P06) to BAE Systems at the address for rework to VIN 114E9586G10 (P/N 2447M85P01) as follows: |
