1.PLANNING INFORMATION
A.Effectivity
* * * FOR GEnx-1B64, -1B70
This Service Bulletin is applicable to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-102 thru 956-106 and 956-109 thru 956-185.
The Service Bulletin is introduced into production at 956-186 and up.
All engines will be retrofitted at Boeing prior to entry into service.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases EEC Software Version B120 P/N 2124M23P13 and also releases EEC kit P/N 738L357G08, and EEC kit P/N 738L357G09 as part of purchase or repaired EEC.
EEC kit P/N 738L357G07 (2447M85P01 EEC) upgrades to EEC kit P/N 738L357G09 kit with this software.
EEC kit P/N 738L357G06 (2121M86P06 EEC) upgrades to EEC kit P/N 738L357G08 kit with this software.

GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience.
All installed engines were upgraded before aircraft delivery.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished on wing or in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new EEC Software.
(2)Condition:
Improvements have been identified for the EEC Software.
(3)Cause:
Flight test lessons learned, provided opportunity for improvements in performance and fault detection.
(4)Improvement:
EEC Software Version B120 provides the following enhancements and compatibility. EEC Software Version B120 is compatible with all GEnx-1B models and thrust ratings.
•
Incorporates power management changes
•
Improvements to prevent false faults
•
CCCV open if LPT or HPT ACC failed closed
•
Preservation special function (menu-mode) update
•
Other learnings from flight test
•
Delta thrust update for autothrottle disconnects
•
Smart exciter logic for improved diagnostics (G04 and greater configurations)
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by engine test.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
After you get access to the engine, you will need approximately 1 man-hour for each engine or component.

Weight and balance are not changed.

NOTE:

All CD-ROM load disks have embedded instructions allowing operators to make the Data Loading and Configuration System (DLCS) reprogramming disks, portable data loader (PDL) disks and retrieve only working copies as needed.
(2)For PMAT/PDL programming of uninstalled EEC only:
(a)Portable Maintenance Access Terminal (PMAT 2000 with current software).
(b)Interface cables 11C3449G01 or 80046-Rev G.
(c)Standard power supply capable of 115 VA at 400 Hertz.
3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.General
(1)EEC on-board Flight Deck reprogramming Procedures:
(a)For on board data load function, refer to the Boeing 787 AMM 73-21-05-00B-750.
 (b)The on board software LSAP is obtained through the Boeing software library. The Boeing part number for the LSAP is GEC47-2124-2313.
(2)EEC Shop Reprogramming and Verification Procedure:
(a)Prepare a 615 working copy disk of the software per the instructions embedded on software load disk P/N 362A9836P6.
(b)Reprogram the EEC with the PDL reprogramming disk working copy. Refer to the Reference 2, Component Maintenance Manual, Chapter/Section 73-21-50, APPENDIX A - ECU Reprogramming and NVM Retrieval.
