The booster anti-ice air sense tube (sense tube) P/N 2445M62G01 is affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin provides a new field configuration for the booster anti-ice (BAI) downstream tube, so the anti-ice valve (BAI valve) VIN 63292047-2 (P/N 2045M87P07) can be used with tube P/N 2450M18G01, by removing the sense tube P/N 2445M62G01 and capping the port at the mentioned old duct. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience or option. |
Impact F |
Implement as deemed necessary per the Service Bulletin Category. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce a new field configuration for the BAI valve downstream tube. |
(2) | Condition: |
Post-GEnx-1B S/B 75-0011 resulted in two fielded configurations for the BAI valve and surrounding hardware: |
(a) | BAI valve VIN 3291779-4 (P/N 2045M87P04) or VIN 3291779-6 (P/N 2045M87P06), with the tube P/N 2450M18G01 and sense tube P/N 2445M62G01 that connects the valve and the sense tube P/N 2445M62G01. |
(b) | BAI valve VIN 63292047-2 (P/N 2045M87P07) and Booster anti-ice air downstream duct tube (tube) P/N 2550M88G01. The sense tube in this configuration is not required. |
Per voice of the customer, it is required to define a field configuration to allow the use of the BAI valve VIN 63292047-2 (P/N 2045M87P07) with the tube P/N 2450M18G01. The proposed field configuration removes the sense tube P/N 2445M62G01 and caps the remaining port. |
(3) | Cause: |
It is required to define the field configuration to allow the use of the BAI valve VIN 63292047-2 (P/N 2045M87P07) on all engines without the need to replace the tube P/N 2450M18G01. |
(4) | Improvement: |
This Service Bulletin authorizes a new field configuration with the following hardware: |
(a) | BAI valve VIN 63292047-2 (P/N 2045M87P07). |
(b) | Tube P/N 2450M18G01. |
(c) | Tube cap assembly P/N J1314G106. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by comparative analysis. |
F. | Approval |
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
G. | Manpower |
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin. |
H. | Weight and Balance |
Weight and balance are not changed. |
