This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 958-102 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The sensor VIN APT-440-1000-100A (P/N 2435M01P01), transducer support bracket P/N 2446M02G01, manifold P/N 2437M31G01, W09 harnesses VIN 508372-6 (P/N 2443M56P01), VIN 508372-8 (P/N 2608M91P01), VIN 508372-9 (P/N 2443M56P02), and VIN 508372-10 (P/N 2777M85P01), and machine bolt P/N MS9556-08 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin introduces a new air pressure sensor (sensor) VIN APT-440A-1000-100A (P/N 2482M06P01), transducer support bracket P/N 2776M71G01, signal air tube (manifold) P/N 2776M72G01, and W09 harness VIN 508372-11 (P/N 2776M73P01).
C.Compliance
Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's option.
Impact F
Implement as deemed necessary per the Service Bulletin Category.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be done on wing or in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts.
The objective is to simplify the BAI pressure subsystem by replacing the two separate single-channel sensors with one dual-channel sensor and the corresponding configuration hardware.
(2)Condition:
The introduction of the new BAI pressure subsystem simplifies the current configuration with no effect on performance or operational characteristics of the system.
(3)Cause:
The change in the BAI sense system is a result of engineering changes to simplify the configuration.
(4)Improvement:
The new dual-channel sensor and interfacing hardware simplifies the configuration by using just one sensor and eliminating one bracket, one sense line, and one W09 harness branch.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.
F.Approval
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
After you get access to the BAI pressure sensor system, you will need approximately 3 man-hours for each engine or component.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 0.5 lb (0.2 kg).
