REVISION 2 TO SERVICE BULLETIN 79-0007 |
Revision 2 is issued to update paragraphs 1.A., Effectivity and 2.C., Configuration Chart. |
Revision 1 was issued April 21, 2014. The original was issued July 20, 2012. Revision bars in the left margin identify changes. |
1. | PLANNING INFORMATION |
A. | Effectivity |
|
This Service Bulletin is applicable to all GEnx-1B, GEnx-PIP1 and GEnx- PIP2 engines. |
This Service Bulletin will be introduced on 2nd Q 2012. |
The oil vent manifold P/N 2378M31G01 is affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin releases an improved oil vent manifold P/N 2506M09G01 for production and provides instructions to install the new parts. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 3 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at the next shop visit of the engine/module. |
NOTE: |
|
This Service Bulletin is offered to improve the reliability or performance of your GE product, or to help prevent the occurrence of the event or condition described in this Service Bulletin. If the operator elects not to participate in the bulletin, that decision will be taken into consideration by GE in evaluating future product performance issues that may arise in the operators fleet. |
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new part, improve maintainability, and reduce weight. |
(2) | Condition: |
The turbine center frame (TCF) vent strut tubes were damaged by incorrect installation of vent oil manifold when the flange protrusion was inserted into the mating strut tube hole during development testing. |
(3) | Cause: |
The shorter protrusion was intended to help in the manifold installation. Installation was particularly difficult, which has no additional flange in the circumferential run. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The removal of the four machine bolts P/N AS3237-14 of the oil vent manifold reduces tangential tolerance stack up of the triangular flange attached to TCF strut. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |
F. | Approval |
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
G. | Manpower |
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin. |
H. | Weight and Balance |
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 0.67 lb (0.30 kg). |
