This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
•
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-118 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The self-locking nuts P/N AS3486-10 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases new brackets P/N 2430M29G01 to secure the oil vent hose tubes.

Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts and to improve reliability and maintainability.
(2)Condition:
The oil vent hose tubes are installed at the cowl support with two flange seal gaskets and four self-locking nuts in a tight area generating a risk of foreign object damage.
(3)Cause:
The self-locking nuts at the cowl support are complicated to install and uninstall in this particular zone.
(4)Improvement:
Two small brackets with riveted nut plates will replace the self-locking nuts for easy assembly.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by comparative analysis.

This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.

3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.Removal of Self-Locking Nuts
(1)Removal instructions for self-locking nuts (1, Figure 1) have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-00-01, REMOVAL 001, Subtask 72-00-01-020-010.
B.Installation of New Brackets
(1)Install four machine bolts (01-120, 79-22-30) and two brackets (2, Figure 1) to attach the oil vent hose tubes (01-091 and 01-151) and two flange seal gaskets (01-130).
(2)Torque the four machine bolts (01-120) to 106-124 lb in. (12.0-14.0 Nm).
