* * * FOR GEnx-1B64, -1B64/P1, -1B64/P2, -1B67, -1B67/P1, -1B67/P2, -1B70, -1B70/75/P1, -1B70/75/P2, -1B70/P1, -1B70/P2, -1B70C/P1, -1B70C/P2, -1B74/75/P1, -1B74/75/P2
This Service Bulletin is applicable to all GEnx-1B engines.
This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-768, 956-773 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The current oil level temperature sensor (OLTS) P/N 8TJ146CGC1 is affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin introduces a new OLTS P/N 8TJ146CGD1, machine bolt (bolt) P/N MS9557-12, and flat washer (washer) P/N MS9321-10.
C.Compliance
Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience/option.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished on wing or in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new OLTS and attaching parts configuration with the external flange changed from stainless steel to aluminium.
(2)Condition:
The current OLTS has the external flange made of stainless steel. The other parts of the OLTS are aluminium.
(3)Cause:
Stainless steel was originally used to meet fire-proof requirements, but the other parts of the OLTS and the oil tank are made of aluminium with a fire protection blanket covering the assembly. A stainless steel flange is not required to meet the fire-proof requirements.
(4)Improvement:
Changing the old configuration to a slightly thicker aluminium flange simplifies manufacture process and reduces weight.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis.
F.Approval
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the appropriate governmental authority and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 0.49 lb (0.22 kg).

K.Interchangeability
Qualified interchangeability.
The new and old OLTSs are functionally interchangeable, but the slightly thicker flange on the new OLTS P/N 8TJ146CGD1 must be installed with longer bolt P/N MS9557-12 and washer P/N MS9321-10.
However, the old OLTS can use either the original bolt P/N MS9557-10, or the longer bolt P/N MS9557-12 and washer P/N MS9321-10.
