The oil vent tube P/N 2320M98G01 is affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin releases a new oil vent tube P/N 2772M48G01 with a longer protrusion at the flange to improve the installation of the affected oil vent tube during turbine center frame (TCF) assembly or maintenance. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience/option. |
Impact E |
This recommendation is to improve the cost of ownership, reduce maintenance requirements or is a product improvement. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
None. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce a new part and improve maintainability. |
(2) | Condition: |
The current configuration allows the machine bolts to be engaged with the nuts before the short flange protrusion is inserted. This caused the joint to be pulled together and the protrusion indents the TCF assembly strut face. |
(3) | Cause: |
The longer protrusion helps the installation between oil vent tubes and the TCF assembly strut oil vent tubes, by avoiding damage of the joint assembly caused by improper installation. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new configuration will limit the engagement of the machine bolts until the large flange protrusion is inserted into the matting strut oil vent tube hole. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by comparative analysis and analysis. |
F. | Approval |
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
