This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:

GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 958-019 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The high pressure turbine (HPT) support nozzles P/N 2303M22G04, P/N 2303M22G05, P/N 2303M22G06, and P/N 2407M46G04 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
 This Service Bulletin releases the new HPT support nozzles P/N 2303M22G09, P/N 2303M22G10, and P/N 2407M46G06.
 This Service Bulletin also provides instructions to rework the affected HPT support nozzles to P/N 2303M22G08, P/N 2303M22G09, P/N 2303M22G10, and P/N 2407M46G06.

 GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin when the HPT nozzle support is routed for repair.

This recommendation is to improve the cost of ownership, reduce maintenance requirements or is a product improvement.

This Service Bulletin can be done in shop.
 This Service Bulletin is offered to improve the reliability or performance of your GE product, or to help prevent the occurrence of the event or condition described in this Service Bulletin. If the operator elects not to participate in the bulletin, that decision will be taken into consideration by GE in evaluating future product performance issues that may arise in the operators fleet.

E.Reason
(1)Objective:
 To introduce new parts, rework parts, and improve reliability.
(2)Condition:
The erosion distress has been observed on the HPT support nozzle inner surface at the nut shield interface.
(3)Cause:
High velocity air is hitting on the HPT support nozzle inner surface after deflecting off the interrupted features on the nut shields.
(4)Improvement:
The hard coat application on the HPT support nozzle inner surface will reduce the erosion distress.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.

The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin increases weight by 0.20 lb (0.09 kg).

3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.General
 (1)Remove the old HPT support nozzle (1, Figure 1).Removal instructions have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-51-00, DISASSEMBLY 001.
 (2)Alternative Procedure Available. Replace with a new HPT support nozzle (1, Figure 1).
 (3)Alternative Procedure. Rework (apply hard coat) and reidentify the old HPT support nozzle (1) as specified in RD 170-1141.
 (4)Install a new or reworked HPT support nozzle (1, Figure 1).Installation instructions have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-51-00, ASSEMBLY 001, CONFIG 01 or CONFIG 02.
