The high pressure turbine (HPT) support nozzles P/N 2303M22G04, P/N 2303M22G05, P/N 2303M22G06, and P/N 2407M46G04 are affected by this Service Bulletin. |
B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin releases the new HPT support nozzles P/N 2303M22G09, P/N 2303M22G10, and P/N 2407M46G06. |
This Service Bulletin also provides instructions to rework the affected HPT support nozzles to P/N 2303M22G08, P/N 2303M22G09, P/N 2303M22G10, and P/N 2407M46G06. |

(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts, rework parts, and improve reliability. |
(2) | Condition: |
The erosion distress has been observed on the HPT support nozzle inner surface at the nut shield interface. |
(3) | Cause: |
High velocity air is hitting on the HPT support nozzle inner surface after deflecting off the interrupted features on the nut shields. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The hard coat application on the HPT support nozzle inner surface will reduce the erosion distress. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |

(1) | Remove the old HPT support nozzle (1, Figure 1).Removal instructions have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-51-00, DISASSEMBLY 001. |
(2) | Alternative Procedure Available. Replace with a new HPT support nozzle (1, Figure 1). |
(3) | Alternative Procedure. Rework (apply hard coat) and reidentify the old HPT support nozzle (1) as specified in RD 170-1141. |
(4) | Install a new or reworked HPT support nozzle (1, Figure 1).Installation instructions have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-51-00, ASSEMBLY 001, CONFIG 01 or CONFIG 02. |
