E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts.
(2)Condition:
Improvements to the EEC software have been identified.
(3)Cause:
Flight test lessons learned, provided opportunity for improvements in performance and fault detection.
(4)Improvement:
The EEC Software Version B140 is compatible with all GEnx-1B models and thrust ratings. The EEC Software Version B140 provides the following enhancements and compatibility:
Prevents the momentary fan speed (N1) command inconsistency at the initiation of the thrust reverser (T/R) transitions.
Updates to prevent increased maximum reverse thrust in hard alternate mode.
Removes the manifold temperature sensor logic.
Configuration box improvements for the non-volatile memory (NVM) store.
Improves and activates the fuel flow meter dropout mitigation logic.
Removes the PS25 sensor logic.
Updates the manifold pressure lower range limit to reduce exposure to the thrust control malfunction accommodation (TCMA) test skipped nuisance faults.
Opens the flow split valve (FSV) and the main staging valve (MSV) on shutdown.
Updates the total ambient temperature (TAT) versus the fan inlet temperature (T12) disagree fault to comply with new FICD requirements.
Removes the menu mode active channel special function.
Inhibits the high-pressure shut-off-valve (HPSOV) failed closed fault during menu mode wet motor special function.
Unmasks the exceedance flight deck effects during menu mode tests and special functions.
Updates cross-channel master disconnect fault inhibit.
Updates the smart exciter in-range monitor fault to accommodate for quenching.
Updates the menu mode borescope special function to close the variable bleed valve (VBV) doors.
Updates the maintenance menu mode preservation test.
Updates the T/R position fault.
Updates the engine rating to the airplane model fault.
Adds the booster anti-ice (BAI) menu mode ground test.
Adds the data to the high speed engine serial bus (HSESB) for the engine monitoring unit (EMU) reporting.
Adds the T12 sensor indication to the common data network (CDN).
Updates the BAI flow determination logic.
NOTE:
The EEC Software Version B140 includes changes applicable to 1B/P2 GEnx-1B models. A new engine configuration box (ECB) setting is required to activate these changes. This new setting will be introduced at a later date with the /P2.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.
F.Approval
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
After you get access to the EEC, you will need approximately 1
man-hour for each engine or component.
H.Weight and Balance
Weight and balance are not changed.
