B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin releases a new fuel nozzle VIN 6100005E05 (GE P/N 2448M48P05). |
This Service Bulletin also releases reworked fuel nozzles VIN 6100005E06 (P/N 2448M48P06) and VIN 6100005E07 (P/N 2448M48P07) that rework the affected fuel nozzles returned from service. |

(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts to improve reliability and also introduce rework procedures to upgrade the existing fuel nozzles to improve their reliability. |
(2) | Condition: |
The current fuel nozzle exhibits aft shroud oxidation, missing material, and thermal fatigue cracking. |
(3) | Cause: |
The higher operating temperatures and stresses than originally predicted. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The new or reworked fuel nozzles have improved materials and cooling distribution along with the new environmental coatings applied to the tip. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |

(1) | Removal and installation instructions of the 22 fuel nozzles (Figure 1) have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-41-00, DISASSEMBLY 001, CONFIG 02 and 72-40-00, ASSEMBLY 001, CONFIG 02. |
(2) | If necessary, rework the fuel nozzles (Figure 1). Refer to the attached Parker Hannifin Corporation Service Bulletin 6100005-73-001SB (latest version). |
