B. | Description |
This Service Bulletin eliminates 10 clip inserts from the harness support spring clip locations and releases new harness support hardware to improve the routing and integration. |
C. | Compliance |
Category 7 |
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience. |
Impact E |
This recommendation is to improve the cost of ownership, reduce maintenance requirements or is a product improvement. |
NOTE: |
|
D. | Concurrent Requirements |
Do GEnx-1B S/B 73-0073 when you do this Service Bulletin. |
E. | Reason |
(1) | Objective: |
To introduce new parts and remove parts from service. |
(2) | Condition: |
The clip inserts were introduced as a response to customer concerns on poor routing experience for legacy sustaining programs. |
(3) | Cause: |
Successful field harness experience across engine programs has demonstrated that the harness peek overbraid at the spring clips performs its chafe guard purpose when properly integrated with spring clips. |
(4) | Improvement: |
The clip insert elimination leads to assembly process simplification through reduced parts count, improves field shop operations, eliminates potential foreign object damage (FOD) concerns, and resolves special considerations to abate clip insert damage and proliferation by error-proofing maintenance activity. |
To enable the clip insert elimination, two harness bracket supports are being updated to downsize nine spring clips, and two loop clamps are released at the heat shield to improve support integration for the W32 and W33 harnesses. |
(5) | Substantiation: |
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis. |
F. | Approval |
The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA or authorized entity representing the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin. |
