1.PLANNING INFORMATION
A.Effectivity
* * * FOR GEnx-1B64, -1B64/P1, -1B67, -1B67/P1, -1B70, -1B70/75/P1, -1B70/P1, -1B74/75/P1
This Service Bulletin is applicable to all GEnx-1B engines.
This change is introduced in the first quarter of 2012, in complete engine sets, in production.
The air tube P/N 2352M19G01, bracket eductor P/N 2326M62G01, and FCOC bracket P/N 2424M97G01 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases an optimized air tube P/N 2469M15G01, bracket eductor P/N 2469M18G01, and FCOC bracket P/N 2469M29G01 redesign.
C.Compliance
Category 7
GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience.
 Impact E
This recommendation is to improve the cost of ownership, reduce maintenance requirements or is a product improvement.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
Do the GEnx-1B S/B 73-0010 before you do this Service Bulletin.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce new parts and improve reliability.
(2)Condition:
The current air tube P/N 2352M19G01 was designed with three one to one bends that have three complex welds.
(3)Cause:
The air tube P/N 2352M19G01 designed was developed to standardize hardware, incorporating a standard four bolts flange, thus the one to one bends are needed.
(4)Improvement:
The elimination of one of the three one to one bends in the air tube P/N 2469M15G01 will improve producibility by eliminating three complex welds and reducing the part process time. The bracket eductor P/N 2469M18G01 and FCOC bracket P/N 2469M29G01 are redesign to incorporate this change.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.
F.Approval
This Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the FAA and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and are FAA APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin increases weight by 0.103 lb (0.047 kg).
