Revision 2 is issued to update the attached Woodward Service Bulletin 82933-79-0002 to Revision 2 and paragraphs 1., PLANNING INFORMATION, 2., MATERIAL INFORMATION, 3., ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS, and 4., APPENDIX A.
Revision 1 was issued September 24, 2015. The original was issued December 22, 2014. Revision bars in the left margin identify changes.
1.PLANNING INFORMATION
A.Effectivity

This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-461 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
 The fuel/oil heat exchanger VIN 8103-017 (P/N 2550M15P01) and VIN 8103-023 (P/N 2550M15P03) are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
 This Service Bulletin introduces new fuel/oil heat exchangers VIN 8103-022 (P/N 2550M15P02) and VIN 8103-024 (P/N 2550M15P04) that incorporate an improved backup ring.
C.Compliance
 Category 3
 GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at the next shop visit of the engine.
 Impact D
 This recommendation is to address a condition that may result in a Delay or Cancellation (D&C).

This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
This Service Bulletin is offered to improve the reliability or performance of your GE product, or to help prevent the occurrence of the event or condition described in this Service Bulletin. If the operator elects not to participate in the bulletin, that decision will be taken into consideration by GE in evaluating future product performance issues that may arise in the operators fleet.
D.Concurrent Requirements
 Do GEnx-1B S/B 72-0269 when you do this Service Bulletin.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part and improve reliability.
(2)Condition:
The backup ring of the current fuel/oil heat exchanger outlet transfer tube caused wear on sealing surface of the fuel adapter.
(3)Cause:
The O-ring nibbling around the circumference of the wear caused fuel leak.
(4)Improvement:
The change of the backup ring material from PTFE (15 percent glass fill) to Parback (fluorocarbon) prevents damage to the transfer tube, and thus damage to the O-ring.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by comparative analysis.

The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the appropriate governmental authority and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
After you get access to the fuel/oil heat exchanger, you will need approximately 2.0 man-hours for each engine or component.
H.Weight and Balance
Weight and balance are not changed.

3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.Removal
(1)If necessary, remove the EDP to get access to the fuel/oil heat exchanger. Refer to the GEnx-1B Boeing 787 AMM, TASK DMC-B787-A-29-11-02-00B-520A-A.
(2)Remove the fuel/oil heat exchanger. Refer to the GEnx-1B Boeing 787 AMM, TASK DMC-B787-A-G79-21-01-00A-520A-A.
B.Rework
(1)Rework the fuel/oil heat exchanger. Refer to the attached Woodward SB 82933-79-0002 (latest version).
C.Installation
(1)Install the fuel/oil heat exchanger. Refer to the GEnx-1B, Boeing 787 AMM, TASK DMCB787- A-G79-21-01-00A-720A-A.
 (2)If necessary, install the EDP. Refer to the GEnx-1B Boeing 787 AMM, TASK DMC-787-A-29-11-02-00-720A-A.
