1 . General.
A.This procedure gives instructions to do an inspection of the high pressure compressor (HPC) stator stages 1 thru 4 variable stator vane (VSV) actuating rings (actuating rings):
NOTE:
Each stage has an upper and lower half ring.
Stage 1 upper actuating ring (071A1)
Stage 1 lower actuating ring (071A6)
Stage 2 upper and lower actuating rings (071A2)
Stage 3 upper and lower actuating rings (071A3)
Stage 4 upper actuating ring (071A4)
Stage 4 lower actuating rings (071A9).
B.There are two configurations of actuating rings:
Configuration 1 PRE SB 72-0052 actuating rings have a thin extension arm on each end of the ring (area A).
Configuration 2 SB 72-0052 actuating rings do not have the thin extension arm on the end of each ring. Refer to Figure 801.

A.Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection of the actuating rings as follows:
(1)Alternative Procedure Available. Do a Class C fluorescent penetrant inspection of the actuating rings. Refer to TASK 70-32-02-230-001 (FLUORESCENT PENETRANT INSPECTION).

Maximum repairable limit:
Any amount, 0.010 inch (0.25 mm).
Repair method:
