1 . Repair for the High Pressure Turbine Rotor Interstage Seal.
A.This procedure gives instructions to blend repair the HPT rotor interstage seal (seal).
B.The following maximum repairable limits apply to this repair:
NOTE:
The information below gives maximum repairable limits for the applicable Inspection sections. The paragraphs are numbered the same as the manual Inspection sections.
NOTE:
For 72-53-43, Inspection 001. Refer to TASK 72-53-43-200-801 (72-53-43, INSPECTION 001) .
(4)Visual Inspection.
(b)Do an inspection of all areas (this does not include the seal serrations, inner diameter (ID) bayonet pocket, forward and aft rabbet fillets, aft air seal groove, air crossover holes, web and hub faces, stage 1 and 2 disk interfaces, seal bore, forward catenary arm, and aft catenary arm) of the interstage seal for:
1Scratches:
Maximum repairable limit:
Any amount, if you can remove the damage with a blend of not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) in depth (except seal teeth region, where maximum blend depth of 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) permissible). Refer to Figure 801.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
2Nicks and dents:
Maximum repairable limit:
Not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) in depth (except seal teeth region, where maximum blend depth of 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) permissible), after removal of high metal.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
(c)Do an inspection of the seal serrations above the tooth step for:
2Nicks or dents:
Maximum repairable limit:
One blend per seal teeth rack, if you can remove the damage with a blend, not more than 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in length, 0.068 inch (1.72 mm) in depth.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.50 inch (12.7 mm).
4Bending:
Maximum repairable limit:
One blend per seal teeth rack, if you can remove the damage with a blend, not more than 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in length, 0.068 inch (1.72 mm) in depth.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.50 inch (12.7 mm).
(d)Do an inspection of the ID bayonet pocket for:
1Nicks, dents, scratches, or other damage:
Maximum repairable limit:
Not more than 0.002 inch (0.05 mm) in depth, after removal of high metal.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
(g)Do an inspection of the web and hub faces for:
1Nicks, scratches, and fretting less than 0.250 inch (6.35 mm) from any fillet radius:
Maximum repairable limit:
Not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm), after removal of high metal.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
2Nicks and scratches in other areas:
Maximum repairable limit:
Any amount, if you can remove the damage with a blend not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) in depth and 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in length.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
3Dents:
Maximum repairable limit:
Not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm), after removal of high metal.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
(h)Do an inspection of the stage 1 disk interface and stage 2 disk interface for:

Maximum repairable limit:
Not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) in depth, 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in length, after the removal of high metal.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).
(i)Do an inspection of the seal bore for:

Maximum repairable limit:
Not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) in depth, 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in length, after the removal of high metal.
Repair method:
Blend with a minimum blend radius of 0.25 inch (6.4 mm).

Not more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) in depth, after removal of high metal.
Repair method:

3Damage in the edge radius:

Any amount, if you can remove the damage with a blend depth less than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm).

(j)Do an inspection of the forward catenary arm and aft catenary arm for:
