This Service Bulletin has been introduced in production to these GEnx-1B engines:
GEnx-1B engines, serial numbers 956-667 and up.
These serial numbers are the best available data.
The tube P/N 2550M88G01 and booster anti-ice (BAI) air tube P/N 2437M62G01 are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B.Description
This Service Bulletin releases a new anti-ice air tube (tube) P/N 2681M63G01 and installation instructions.
C.Compliance

GE recommends that you do this Service Bulletin at customer's convenience or option.
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.
D.Concurrent Requirements
None.
E.Reason
(1)Objective:
To introduce a new part and reduce weight.
(2)Condition:
The current BAI configuration of two tubes has no immediate negative impact on the engine except for an extra weight of 0.477 lb (0.216 kg).
(3)Cause:
Two tubes were added for maintainability at early stages of the engine development.
(4)Improvement:
The new BAI system will combine both tubes in single one, which will result in a total weight reduction of 0.477 lb (0.216 kg) per engine.
(5)Substantiation:
Substantiation is by analysis and comparative analysis.

The data contained in this Service Bulletin has been reviewed by the appropriate governmental authority and the repair(s) and modification(s) herein comply with the applicable Aviation Regulations and are APPROVED for installation in the model(s) listed in this Service Bulletin.
G.Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H.Weight and Balance
The complete compliance with this Service Bulletin decreases weight by 0.477 lb (0.216 kg).

3.ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A.Removal
(1)Removal instructions for the tube (1, Figure 1) and BAI air tube (2) have not changed. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-00-02, DISASSEMBLY 002, CONFIG 01 or CONFIG 02.
B.Installation
(1)Installation instructions for the tube (1, Figure 1) have not changed, except the extension of the forward end of the new tube (1) is larger and hardware to assemble old tubes are not longer used. Refer to the GEnx-1B EM, 72-00-02, ASSEMBLY 005, CONFIG 01 or CONFIG 02.
